API Automation Engineer

Location: Pittsburgh preferred, else Dallas

Duration: Fulltime

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled API Automation Engineer with strong expertise in Karate DSL and Cucumber frameworks. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test scripts for RESTful APIs, ensuring the quality and reliability of our services through continuous integration and delivery pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement automated API tests using Karate DSL and Cucumber.
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and QA team members to understand requirements and create robust test scenarios.
• Develop and maintain test scripts that validate RESTful web services, JSON/XML payloads, headers, and status codes.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Perform test data management and test environment configuration.
• Identify and document bugs, performance issues, and suggest improvements.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to test framework enhancements.
• Maintain high test coverage and ensure automation is aligned with project goals and timelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Hands-on experience with Karate for API testing.
• Proficiency with Cucumber (Gherkin syntax) for BDD test scenarios.
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, HTTP methods, status codes, and authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).
• Experience in test automation frameworks and tools (JUnit/TestNG, Postman, REST Assured a plus).
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, or similar.
• Proficient in version control using Git.
• Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
