Traveling IT Field Engineer

Location: Statewide (Virginia)
Duration: 1 Year Contract (with potential for full-time hire in July 2026)
Travel: Required 3–4 days/week, including overnight stays
Vehicle: State vehicle and gas card provided
License: Valid Driver’s License required

About the Role

We are seeking a Traveling IT Field Engineer to support four regional laboratories and ten regional offices across the state. This role is ideal for a tech-savvy, customer-focused professional who enjoys travel and hands-on technical work.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide on-site support for:
• PC and software installations
• Printers and peripherals
• Logitech Teams meeting spaces
• Wired and wireless networking (basic support)
• Collaborate with VITA for advanced network configurations (DHCP, DNS, routers, firewalls)
• Use IT Service Management (ITSM) systems to manage tickets and prioritize tasks
• Deliver end-user support and training with a friendly, professional demeanor
• Assist in modernizing lab equipment to integrate with CoreOne LIMS
• Travel across the state 3–4 times per week, including overnight stays as needed
• Submit travel expenses weekly for reimbursement per state policy

Additional Information

• Work Schedule: 40 hours/week with potential for flexible hours to minimize overtime (pre-approval required)
• Travel Reimbursement: Meals and incidentals reimbursed per GSA and DOA State Travel Policy
