The Senior IT Server Administrator role is to ensure the stability and integrity of the corporate server infrastructure and Active Directory environment. This is achieved by planning, designing, and developing server environments. In addition, the Senior IT Server Administrator will participate in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all server hardware, software, and related technology. This individual will also analyze and resolve hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
Requirements
Technical Knowledge – demonstrates the specific skills necessary for the assignments, understands the background and points of leverage to be effective in the role.
- Design and maintain company-wide Active Directory structure including corporate policies enforced in the domain environment.
- Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues as needed.
- Collaborate with co-workers, management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term system requirements.
- Create and maintain documentation as it relates to system configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records.
- Provide technical design for corporate IT projects in conjunction with corporate and remote IT resources.
- Manage servers, including database, e-mail, file & print and backup servers and their associated operating systems and software.
- Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for server administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
- Conduct research on technical products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the IT industry.
- Practice asset management, including maintenance of server component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
- Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
- Perform Cisco switch configuration changes and installations, firewall updates and router configurations.
- Participate in managing all server and network solutions.
- Perform server and security audits, and system backups and recovery.
- Interact and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure products and services.
- Conducts performance testing and tuning of new and existing solutions for the purposes of system reliability, and isolating areas for improvement.
- Proactively and collaboratively liaises with colleagues in the IT group to resolve any defects in products or company systems.
- Proactively contributes to cross-departmental projects as requested or required.
- Proactively recommends, schedules, and performs upgrades for optimal performance and functionality.
- Regularly interacts with managers, clients and, vendors, to address queries and questions.
Knowledge of Work Areas and Responsibilities

- Remains current on evolving business processes and associated technology changes with the Monroe organization and with hardware and software configurations knowledge.

- On-call availability for 24/7/365 support.

Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
- 10+ years of proven experience as a Senior IT Server Administrator with demonstrated repeatable experience and success with current technologies.
- Proven experience and success with Microsoft Active Directory design, maintenance, and migrations.
- Deep knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Office 365, ADFS, Exchange Online, and server hardware and operating system environments (Windows and Linux).
- Proven experience with capacity planning, scripting, security principles, and general server management best practices.
- Working knowledge of VMWare VSphere 6.x technologies including configuration of ESX hosts and storage.
- Working knowledge of Citrix XenApp 1912 and greater including NetScaler Appliances version 11.x and higher, secure gateway, storefront, and receiver.
- Proven experience with SAN related concepts and technologies.
- Proven experience with Cisco technology including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless hardware.
- Strong, hands-on technical knowledge of network and PC operating systems including imaging.
- Working technical knowledge of current network hardware, protocols, and Internet standards.
- Working knowledge of IT SOX Controls.
- Proven experience with endpoint security software solutions such as Crowdstrike, Sentinel One and Trend Micro.
- Excellent hardware troubleshooting experience.
- Extensive application support experience.
- Understanding of Change Control practices and procedures.
- Proven experience with cybersecurity software solutions such as Rapid 7, Proofpoint and Microsoft Defender.
- Ability to present ideas to peers and management.
- Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
