Job Description:
Sr. Application Developer
The Sr. Application Developer will have extensive experience in MRI software and knowledge of accounting procedures and commercial real estate software systems. They possess strong Excel and SQL skills and extensive experience utilizing MRI’s custom toolkit. This role will be responsible for developing new functionality, customizing existing features and implementation of MRI’s native capabilities to better support our property management operations. This role will also often work directly with business users to design, review, develop and integrate new technologies into our existing suite of financial applications. As a result, it requires excellent customer service skills and the capability to translate business needs to functional and technical requirements. This is a full-time position, and remote candidates will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Leading technical efforts to develop, implement and deliver new functionality within existing applications or new business systems, while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
- Developing new functionality within MRI using MRI’s custom development tools. This includes integration methods with other applications used by the company.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather business requirements and translate them into technical specifications within the MRI platform.
- Research native MRI functionality to determine implementation efforts, develop a strong understanding of how it works and assist in determining the value to the business.
- Works directly with business users and outside contractors to translate business requirements into a development life cycle to ensure alignment with project plan.
- Works closely with IT department team members to resolve system incidents and escalated problems when necessary.
- Participates in system testing as part of new implementations, upgrades, and developments.
- Proactively communicates updates on project-based developments. Appropriately escalates timing issues and potential risks to management when necessary.
- Provides support including, but not limited to, the following:
- Performs Tier III level escalated support tickets all assigned applications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve integrations between MRI and other applications, communicates integration data errors, and escalates issues as needed.
- Performs data exports and imports for assigned applications including SQL queries for ad-hoc data requests when necessary.
- Collaborates with business functions to develop instructional materials or any other resources that can be utilized for training purposes.
- Conducts in-person and virtual training on technical topics as needed.
- Keeps internal support and technical documentation current.
- Applies knowledge and best practices in all scenarios, maintaining software and company standards.
Provides coverage for Tier I level MRI support requests as needed when team members are out of the office.
Requirements

- Excellent Excel and SQL skills.
- Excellent technical skills within MRI Software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong general technical skills and aptitude.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to escalate them when appropriate.
- Excellent customer service and people skills.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical users.
- Ability to write professional emails and training materials.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated while also able to take direction and work well as part of a team.
- Ability to function well in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
Professional Experience:
- Prior hands-on MRI Software experience within a commercial real estate environment required.
- Prior experience working with SQL required.
- Minimum 5 years prior experience in a technical customer support position. A focus on applications preferred, a focus on accounting, financial, or banking applications a plus.
- Prior experience working with accounting concepts and principles a plus.
Education/Certifications:
- Prior completion of certain MRI training courses strongly recommended.
- Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Accounting, or related field preferred.
- Appropriate certification(s) in lieu of the above degrees will be considered.
- ITIL Foundation Certification a plus.
